50 Years of Service to the League
Carolyn Campbell
Carolyn Campbell joined the League of Utah Writers in 1976. Her past 50 years with the League have been marked by not just membership, but service and professional accomplishment. She was named the League's Writer of the Year in 1997 and served as League President from 2001 to 2002. She is currently the president of the Wordcraft chapter, a post she has been serving in for many years. Among all this service for others, she still makes time for her own writing.
Carolyn is a prolific nonfiction writer with more than 900 published articles, including in major national outlets. She still holds an active byline at City Weekly. With 50 years of service, she has officially surpassed the tenure of League founder Olive Woolley Burt, for whom the Woolley Awards are named. As such, we thought it was only appropriate that we honor Carolyn in a similar way. Beginning in 2027, the League's volunteer service award will be known as the Carolyn Campbell Volunteer of the Year Award.
