A Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The League of Utah Writers values and celebrates human creativity in all art forms. We as an organization applaud the human endeavors of our community of writers and understand the conflict with using artificial intelligence (AI) in creative works.

The League of Utah Writers does not accept generative artificial intelligence (AI), in any of our contests, professional publications, articles, online magazines or any content or media produced by the League.

Tools that do not generate new text or images, such as spell check programs, screenplay formatting software, or screen reading devices for disability accommodation, are not considered generative.

The League believes that the best creativity comes from a human mind. We support our chapters’ educational endeavors to cultivate a community of strong writers.
